FAQ

Common questions, honest answers.

If you have a question we haven't covered, email us at info@davincii.co. We answer everything ourselves — no support tickets.

What does Davincii cost?

Nothing upfront — no signup fee, no subscription, no minimums. Many publishing admins charge $75–$100 just to open an account; we don't. Our commission is 15% on performance royalties and 20% on mechanicals, taken only from royalties we actually collect for you. If we don't collect, you owe nothing. The full fee schedule is in our Terms.

Do I keep my copyrights?

Always. Davincii administers your rights — we never own them. You retain 100% of your compositions, indefinitely.

I already have a distributor — isn't this covered?

No — and this is the gap most independent artists never close. DistroKid, TuneCore, and CD Baby pay you for your recordings. Your compositions — the songs themselves — earn a separate set of royalties at collection societies worldwide, and distributors don't collect them. That's the money Davincii goes and gets.

What if I'm already registered with ASCAP or BMI?

Keep your membership — it's the foundation. Your PRO collects your writer's share of performance royalties, but that's one royalty stream in one role. Davincii handles the publisher side: registering every song at societies worldwide and collecting the mechanical, digital, and international royalties a PRO membership alone doesn't reach.

What types of royalties do you collect?

Performance royalties through your PRO and collection societies worldwide; mechanical royalties through The MLC and societies worldwide; digital performance royalties through SoundExchange (an opt-in, for recordings you own); and sync fees when your music is licensed. Through reciprocal society agreements, collection reaches 240+ countries and territories.

Can you recover royalties my songs already earned?

Often, yes. When songs sit unregistered, their royalties pile up unclaimed at collection societies — held for a limited window, typically two to three years depending on the society, before they're gone for good. Registering your catalog lets us claim what's still there. That's exactly what Davincii Radar estimates: how much your catalog is already owed.

When do I get paid?

Quarterly — statements in your dashboard, payouts by ACH, PayPal, or Stripe once your balance reaches $25. One honest caveat: collection societies pay 6–12 months behind, so your first payout typically lands 9–12 months after registration. That pipeline is industry-wide — and it's why registering early matters.

Can I leave at any time?

Yes. 30 days' written notice — no lock-in, no penalties. To start, email info@davincii.co from the email address on your account and we'll confirm receipt. If you're moving to another administrator, we release or hand off our society registrations within 30 days of your direction, including the letter-of-relinquishment paperwork your next publisher needs. We keep collecting royalties you earned during your term for 12 months after the agreement ends, then send a final statement and everything owed within 60 days of that window closing.

How does registration actually work?

You sign up and add your songs — moments each from your dashboard, often just seconds. We verify every detail, register each work at the right PROs, The MLC, and collection societies worldwide, and track every filing's status in your dashboard — so you always know what's registered, what's pending, and what's still open. Priority artists on our invitation-only Blueprint tier get their entire catalog identified and assembled for them.

Do you work with artists outside the US?

Yes. Songs earn royalties at performance and mechanical societies worldwide, not just in the US, and we register and collect across them regardless of where you're based.

What if a PRO or the MLC already has my song filed incorrectly?

We correct it with the society directly — updating the existing registration rather than filing a duplicate, which is what actually creates conflicts and delays.

What if my co-writers and I disagree on the songwriting split?

That's between you and your co-writers to resolve — we have zero authority over anyone else's share and only register the splits you tell us are accurate. Once a split is settled, we register it and correct the filing if it ever changes.

Do you handle sync licensing?

Yes, but never without your explicit written approval first. If you or your team bring the placement, Davincii administers and collects for 20%. If we source and pitch the placement on your behalf, it's 35%. Either way, you approve every license before it's granted.

What tax forms do I need to fill out?

A standard W-9 if you're a US taxpayer, or a W-8BEN if you're not — completed once in the dashboard before your first withdrawal, so we can pay you and report your earnings correctly. Same paperwork any US company handling royalty payments requires.

How do you keep my data secure?

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext, and access to production data is limited to authorized personnel under signed confidentiality obligations.

Is there a minimum catalog size?

No. From one song to a thousand — every release deserves to be fully registered and earning.
