ECAD

Brazilian collection runs through ECAD, representing seven member societies (UBC, AMAR, ABRAMUS, SBACEM, SICAM, SOCINPRO, ASSIM). Writers join an affiliate — most often UBC or ABRAMUS — while ECAD collects centrally.

What ECAD collects

Performance royalties are collected by a performing rights organization whenever a composition plays publicly, including on radio, television, a stream, or at a live venue.

In Brazil, ECAD collects public performance — Brazil. ECAD was established in 1977.

Joining ECAD

Joining cost: Free (via affiliated society). Royalties are distributed monthly for shows, quarterly for radio, television, and streaming. You need an IPI number — the global identifier connecting a writer with their works, without which registrations cannot be matched to payments.
