SESAC

The smallest major US PRO accepts members by invitation only — it recruits selected writers rather than taking applications. With a meaningful catalog and no ASCAP or BMI affiliation, you may hear from them.

What SESAC collects

Performance royalties are collected by a performing rights organization whenever a composition plays publicly, including on radio, television, a stream, or at a live venue.

In United States, SESAC collects public performance. SESAC was established in 1930 and reports approximately 30,000 members.

Joining SESAC

Joining cost: Invitation-only. Royalties are distributed quarterly. You need an IPI number — the global identifier connecting a writer with their works, without which registrations cannot be matched to payments.

Where Davincii fits

SESAC pays its writers the writer share directly, so that part reaches you from your own society. Davincii administers the publisher share by registering your works with ASCAP, BMI, and The MLC, and we rely on reciprocal societies only outside the United States.
