How to withdraw your money

To withdraw, open Payouts in the sidebar, press Withdraw, check the amount, and confirm. You can withdraw whenever your Available Balance is at least $25.

Before your first withdrawal

You need three things. Until they're done, a setup card on the Payouts page lists what's left.

1. A tax form. A W-9 if you're a US person, or a W-8BEN if you're not. See tax forms: W-9 and W-8BEN.
2. A payout method. Bank transfer through Stripe, or PayPal. See changing where your money goes.
3. At least $25 available. Smaller balances roll forward until they pass $25.

How to withdraw

1. Open Payouts in the sidebar.
2. Check your Available Balance at the top of the page.
3. Press Withdraw. If you haven't chosen a payout method yet, the page takes you to the Payout Method section first.
4. In the Withdraw funds window, the amount is filled in with your full balance. Change it if you want to take out less. It must be at least $25 and no more than your balance.
5. Check Sending to. It shows Stripe or PayPal. Press Change if you want to send it somewhere else.
6. Press the Withdraw button, which shows the amount.

You'll see a confirmation that the money was sent, with your remaining balance.

How long it takes

• Bank transfer (Stripe): usually arrives within 2 to 5 business days.
• PayPal: usually arrives within 1 to 2 business days.

After you withdraw

Your withdrawal shows in Payout History at the bottom of the Payouts page, with its date, method, amount and status:

• Pending: on its way.
• Paid: the money has been sent.
• Failed or Reversed: it didn't reach you, and the amount went back to your balance. See what to do when a withdrawal fails.

When your money is on its way, you'll get a notification in the portal and an email at your login address.

Why your balance may look lower than your royalties

Your Available Balance is your royalties after our commission, minus what you've already withdrawn. It counts royalties once the society's payment has reached us. If you're outside the US and filed a W-8BEN, the page also shows a line for US tax withheld on royalties from US societies. See when royalties arrive.

If you can't withdraw

• Less than $25: pressing Withdraw shows a note that you need at least $25.00.
• No tax form: the window says Complete your tax form first and links to it.
• Payout details changed recently: withdrawals pause for 48 hours to protect your money.
