When royalties arrive

When royalties reach your Davincii balance, why the first payment takes longest, and when you can withdraw.

We credit your Davincii balance every month with everything that reached us for you that month. Once your balance is at least $25 and your tax form is on file, you can withdraw it whenever you like from the Payouts page.

How soon a royalty reaches us depends on the society paying it, not on us. Here is what to expect.

Mechanical royalties arrive monthly

Mechanical royalties are reported and paid to us every month. They run about two to three months behind the month your music was played. So once they start, they land in your balance every month.

Performance royalties arrive four times a year

The societies that pay performance royalties account four times a year. They usually run six to nine months behind the quarter the performance happened in. That money joins your balance quarterly, not monthly.

This is the publisher share of performance royalties. The writer share is paid to you directly by your own society, on its own schedule, and never passes through us. Read more in publisher share and writer share.

Your first payment is the slow one

The MLC, which pays mechanical royalties in the US, issues each month's royalties about 75 days after that month ends. That means roughly two and a half to three months pass before the first mechanical money reaches us at all.

That first run also carries any back royalties your catalog is owed. That's why it is often much larger than the months that follow. After that, payments settle into a monthly rhythm. Learn more in our guide to The MLC.

Where to see what's coming

  • On your Dashboard, the Earnings box shows the Estimated Next Distribution once you have royalties on your account.
  • The Royalties page shows everything we've collected for you. See reading your Royalties page.
  • Each month we're paid for you, a new statement appears in the Statements list on the Royalties page. See downloading your statements.

When you can withdraw

Your Available Balance on the Payouts page counts royalties once the society's payment has actually reached us. You can withdraw it once it is at least $25. Smaller balances roll forward until they pass $25.

Before your first withdrawal, you need a completed tax form and a payout method. A bank transfer usually arrives within 2 to 5 business days. PayPal usually arrives within 1 to 2 business days. See how to withdraw your money.

Common questions

How often does Davincii pay me?

Every month. We credit your balance with everything that reached us that month, and you can withdraw whenever your balance is at least $25.

Why is my first payment so slow?

Societies pay on their own schedules. The MLC pays each month's mechanical royalties about 75 days after that month ends, so the first money usually takes two and a half to three months to reach us.
