JASRAC

Japan's dominant PRO. Membership process is more involved than Western societies — often requires a Japanese publisher partner. Reciprocal partners with all major US and EU societies, so foreign writers usually collect via their home PRO.

What JASRAC collects

A performing rights organization collects performance royalties — money generated when a composition is played publicly, whether that's radio, television, a live venue, or a stream.

JASRAC operates in Japan and collects public performance, mechanicals — Japan. It was founded in 1939 and reports roughly 20,000 members.

Joining JASRAC

Joining cost: ¥10,000 one-time + ¥3,000/year ongoing. Royalties are distributed quarterly. An IPI number is required — that's the global identifier that ties a writer to their works, and without one your registrations can't be matched to payments.

Where Davincii fits

Davincii does not register directly with JASRAC. Membership here is generally limited to residents or is invitation-only, so collection from this territory is handled through our reciprocal society relationships rather than a direct filing.
