The MLC

The Mechanical Licensing Collective

Created by the Music Modernization Act (2018) to administer streaming mechanical royalties in the US. Free to join. If your songs are streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc., the MLC collects the mechanical side and pays you — but only if your songs are registered with them.

What The MLC collects

A mechanical rights society collects mechanical royalties — money generated when a composition is reproduced, which today mostly means streams and downloads rather than physical copies.

The MLC operates in United States and collects streaming mechanicals. It was founded in 2018.

Joining The MLC

Joining cost: Free. Royalties are distributed monthly. An IPI number is not required to register here.

Register directly at The MLC.

Where Davincii fits

Davincii handles registration with The MLC as part of standard onboarding — you don't file here yourself. We register your compositions, keep the data matched, and collect what The MLC pays out.
