The MLC

The Music Modernization Act (2018) established the MLC to manage US streaming mechanical royalties. Joining costs nothing. For plays on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc., it collects and pays the mechanical side — provided you've registered those songs with them.

What The MLC collects

Mechanical royalties go through a mechanical rights society when a composition is reproduced; today, that usually means streams and downloads instead of physical copies.

In United States, The MLC collects streaming mechanicals. The MLC was established in 2018.

Joining cost: Free. Royalties are distributed monthly. Registration here does not require an IPI number.
