SABAM

Belgium's bilingual (French + Dutch) PRO + mechanical society maintains reciprocal deals with most leading societies. For songwriters outside Belgium, a home PRO receives SABAM earnings through those arrangements.

What SABAM collects

Performance royalties are collected by a performing rights organization whenever a composition plays publicly, including on radio, television, a stream, or at a live venue.

In Belgium, SABAM collects public performance, mechanicals — Belgium. SABAM was established in 1922 and reports approximately 40,000 members.

Joining SABAM

Joining cost: €75 one-time + a cooperative share (€31 partial or €124 full). Royalties are distributed on varying cycles — online six times a year, international quarterly, domestic performance annually. You need an IPI number — the global identifier connecting a writer with their works, without which registrations cannot be matched to payments.
