France combines its PRO + mechanical society here, with subsidiary SDRM operating the mechanical side. It's the world's oldest PRO and maintains a strong international reach — reciprocal deals cover several African and Middle Eastern territories.

What SACEM collects

Performance royalties are collected by a performing rights organization whenever a composition plays publicly, including on radio, television, a stream, or at a live venue.

In France, SACEM collects public performance, mechanicals — France. SACEM was established in 1851 and reports approximately 195,000 members.

Joining SACEM

Joining cost: €100 one-time at sign-up (includes €10 share capital); no annual fee. Royalties are distributed quarterly + monthly digital. You need an IPI number — the global identifier connecting a writer with their works, without which registrations cannot be matched to payments.
