Italy's PRO + mechanical society also manages some neighboring-rights income. Though its EU exclusivity ended in 2017 (allowing other societies to collect in Italy), it remains dominant.

What SIAE collects

Performance royalties are collected by a performing rights organization whenever a composition plays publicly, including on radio, television, a stream, or at a live venue.

In Italy, SIAE collects public performance, mechanicals — Italy. SIAE was established in 1882 and reports approximately 100,000 members.

Joining SIAE

Joining cost: Free under 30; over 30, from €58/year (mandate tier) to €148/year (member tier). Royalties are distributed quarterly for digital; annual rounds for other rights. You need an IPI number — the global identifier connecting a writer with their works, without which registrations cannot be matched to payments.
