Using Davincii outside the US

Songwriters anywhere can use Davincii. What changes when you live outside the US: your PRO, your tax form, currency and payouts.

Yes, you can use Davincii wherever you live. Where you are based doesn't limit where we register your songs or where we collect. A few steps look slightly different for songwriters outside the US, and this article covers them.

Where we register your songs

We register your songs with the societies that pay songwriters worldwide: ASCAP or BMI and The MLC in the US, with the rest of the world reached through their partner societies. Our guide to international royalty collection explains how those partner societies pass money across borders.

Your PRO

On the PRO step of your profile, pick your performing rights organization. The list includes ASCAP, BMI, SACEM, PRS for Music, GEMA, JASRAC, SOCAN and APRA AMCOS. If yours isn't there, choose "Other" and type its name. Then add your IPI / CAE number, which you can find in your society's member portal or welcome email.

Your own society keeps paying you the writer share of your performance royalties directly. Davincii collects the publisher share and mechanical royalties. Do I still need ASCAP or BMI? explains why you keep your membership.

If you haven't joined a society yet, choose "Not yet registered" and add your details later. BMI is free for songwriters to join and open to songwriters anywhere. If you join any society, join as a songwriter, not as a publisher, because Davincii is already your publisher.

Your mailing address

Your profile asks for a mailing address, where tax forms and correspondence are sent. Pick your country from the list and fill in the fields it asks for.

Your tax form

Before your first withdrawal, you fill in a tax form once on the Payouts page. If you are not a US person, that is a W-8BEN. We withhold whatever that form and the law require. Tax forms: W-9 and W-8BEN walks through it.

Currency and payouts

Royalties earned in other currencies are converted at the exchange rate applied when the money reaches us. Your share is credited to your balance every month, and you can withdraw once it reaches $25, by bank transfer (through Stripe) or PayPal. See How to withdraw your money.

Pricing is the same everywhere

There is no signup fee and no subscription, wherever you live. We take 15% of the performance royalties we collect (the publisher share) and 20% of mechanical royalties. How much Davincii costs has the full list.

If you live in the EEA or the UK

Our Terms include an arbitration clause for disputes. If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the arbitration requirement and the class action waiver don't apply to you, and you keep the protections of your home country's consumer law.
