How Davincii works, from signup to your first payment

The path from creating your account to withdrawing your first royalties: sign up, finish your profile, add songs, and get paid.

Davincii is your publishing administrator. You sign up, tell us who you are, and add your songs. We register those songs with the societies that pay songwriters, collect the money they pay, and credit your share to your balance every month. You keep 100% of your copyrights.

Here is the whole path, step by step.

1. Create your account

Go to the signup page and enter your email and a password, or choose Continue with Google. On the next screen you give your legal first and last name and the name you release music under. Your legal name is what goes on a registration. Tick the box to agree to the Terms and Privacy Policy, then choose Create account.

We email you a 6-digit code to confirm your address. Enter it and you are in.

2. Finish your profile

Your Dashboard shows how many profile fields are left. Choose Complete profile and answer one question per screen:

  1. The name you release under, and your date of birth.
  2. Your performing rights organization (PRO), such as ASCAP, BMI or SOCAN. Pick "Not yet registered" if you haven't joined one.
  3. Your IPI / CAE number, your writer ID at your PRO.
  4. Your mailing address, where tax forms and correspondence are sent.

There is also an optional question about whether you own a publishing company. Most songwriters don't, and that's fine. If you are unsure about the PRO step, read Do I still need ASCAP or BMI?.

3. Add your songs

Open Add a Song in the sidebar. Give the song title, the recording details, and every songwriter with their share. You can pick the recording from Spotify to fill in details faster. See How to add a song for the full walkthrough.

4. We register your songs

We register your songs with the societies that pay songwriters worldwide: ASCAP or BMI and The MLC in the US, with the rest of the world reached through their partner societies. You can follow each song on My Songs. What each song status means explains every label you might see there.

5. Royalties arrive in your balance

Societies pay us on their own schedules. We account to you every month: what reached us is credited to your balance, and you can see it song by song on the Royalties page. Your first payment usually takes the longest, and often carries back royalties too. When royalties arrive explains the timing.

6. Withdraw your money

On Payouts, fill in your tax form once (a W-9 if you are a US person, a W-8BEN otherwise), choose bank transfer (through Stripe) or PayPal, and withdraw whenever your balance is $25 or more. Balances under $25 roll forward. How to withdraw your money covers each step.

What it costs

There is no signup fee and no subscription. We take a commission only from what we collect: 15% of the performance royalties we collect and 20% of mechanical royalties. The full list is in How much Davincii costs and on our pricing page.
