How much Davincii costs
No signup fee and no subscription. We take a commission only from royalties we collect: 15% on performance, 20% on mechanicals.
Davincii costs nothing to join. There is no signup fee and no subscription. We are paid a commission from the royalties we actually collect for you, so if we collect nothing, you pay nothing.
Commission rates
- Performance royalties: 15% of the publisher share we collect. You keep 85%.
- Mechanical royalties: 20%. You keep 80%.
- Sync, when you bring the deal: 20%. You keep 80%.
- Sync, when we find the deal: 35%. You keep 65%.
- Anything else we collect: 15%. You keep 85%.
Your writer share is never part of it
Performance royalties come in two halves. Your performing rights organization (PRO) pays the writer share straight to you, and we never touch it. Our 15% applies only to the publisher share that we collect. Publisher share and writer share explains the difference, and Do I still need ASCAP or BMI? explains why you keep your PRO.
Sync licensing
We never license your music for film, TV, ads or games without your written approval. When you or someone you work with brings the placement and we administer it, the commission is 20%. When we find, pitch or negotiate the placement for you, it is 35%. Royalties the placement earns later, such as performance royalties when the show airs, are charged at the normal rate for their type, not the sync rate. Our sync licensing guide has more.
Back royalties
If we recover money you earned before you joined, it is treated like any other royalty of the same type, at the same rate.
Getting paid
Your share is credited to your balance every month. You can withdraw whenever your balance reaches $25, by bank transfer (through Stripe) or PayPal. Balances under $25 roll forward. You fill in a tax form once before your first withdrawal. See How to withdraw your money.
Your rate doesn't change without you
Under the current Terms, the rates that apply to you are the ones in effect when you complete onboarding. We can change them only with your written sign-off, and a new rate never applies to royalties already earned.
If you leave
You can end the agreement with 30 days' written notice. We keep collecting what you earned during the agreement for 12 months after it ends, at the same rates, and send you your share. How to cancel has the details, and our pricing page has the summary.
